Meet our therapists

Hi, my name is Rian and I am glad you are here

Treatment Focus

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and a member of the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), offering counselling therapy in Alberta for adults, teens, professionals, first responders, athletes, and individuals seeking support with stress, trauma, and life transitions.

As a somatic-focused, attachment-based, and existential therapist, I help clients explore how past experiences, upbringing, and family dynamics have shaped their sense of self, relationships, and emotional patterns today. Together, we work to understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, while also exploring deeper questions of identity, purpose, and meaning.

I believe healing involves the whole person—mind, body, and emotions. Our thoughts, sensations, and lived experiences all carry important information that can support change and regulation. By learning to notice and work with both the body’s signals and the mind’s narratives, clients can develop greater emotional regulation, resilience, and a more grounded and meaningful life.

  • Individuals:  Anxiety counselling, depression, stress, grief and loss, emotional regulation, self-esteem, life transitions, existential and spiritual concerns
  • Professionals:  Burnout counselling, work stress, career transitions, leadership challenges, workplace conflict, work-life balance
  • First Responders:  Trauma counselling, occupational stress, burnout, moral injury, resilience, relationship challenges
  •  Athletes and Performers:   Performance anxiety, confidence, sports psychology-informed counselling, injury recovery, identity beyond sport, transition out of sport
  •  Addictions: Addiction counselling support, relapse prevention, motivation, behaviour change.
  • Catholic/Christian:  Faith-based counselling support for clients who wish to integrate Christian or Catholic beliefs into therapy. I also welcome exploration of faith, vocation, meaning, and purpose.

Credentials and approaches

I hold a Master of Counselling degree from Gonzaga University and a Secondary Education degree from the University of Alberta.

A little more about me

Originally from Newfoundland (known as “The Rock”), I bring an East Coast appreciation for connection, community, and conversation into my work. Outside of counselling, I’m a husband, father of four, an avid sports fan, and a former high-level basketball coach. My experiences in sport, family life, and counselling have shaped my belief that people are resilient, adaptable, and always striving to make meaning—even in difficult seasons of life. I also have a deep appreciation for culture, heritage, creativity, and the ways music, art, and shared experiences connect people. Outside of work, I enjoy music, art, good conversation, and spending time with family and friends.
